One Quart Magazine presents the best of May at NYC Looks. Liisa Jokinen gives you a view to the street styles of New York City.
In July 2005, I started a street style site called Hel Looks in my then-hometown Helsinki, Finland. I wanted to document individual, unique looks and styles and to spread inspiration. In June 2014 I moved to San Francisco, California, and launched SF Looks. Now it is time for NYC Looks in my current hometown New York. One Quart publishes selected NYC Looks photos every month.

You, 23: “I’m wearing a hat from Henrik Vibskov, a shirt made by myself and pants from Craig Green and a tote from BLESS. My style is always playful. I’m always looking for unique forms and interesting details when I choose/make my clothes.”

Pedro, 25: “I’m wearing a Salsa For President t-shirt, Levi’s jeans, Danzarteb boots, a jacket from L Train Vintage, and a market bag from Mexico. Mexico and Latino America inspire me a lot. I love leather and denim jackets, purses and boots. Eclectic outfits are my favorite ones.”

Rebecca, 22: “I am wearing my Grandma’s fur coat, a harness I made, a NASA sweatshirt from the California Science Center, a friend’s beret, a pink snakeskin coat I fashioned into a skirt, and customized platforms from Collections Vintage. My style inspirations are clowns, faeries, grandmas, babies, dolls, insects, drag queens, goddesses, and trash. My closet is mostly comprised of brightly colored, oversized, thrifted, gifted, repurposed, or vintage pieces. I believe getting dressed is a meditative ritual, and clothing is our second skin as it is an extension of our souls and bodies.”
