One Quart Magazine offers you the first listen to the brand new compilation album Soliti Five Years: My Brain Hurts A Lot.
Finland’s enduring indie label Soliti celebrates its fifth year with a special compilation release: Soliti Five Years: My Brain Hurts a Lot. The album will be released on Friday the 25th of November and we at One Quart Magazine are proud to give you an exclusive premiere of this quirky enterprise, with its reference/tribute to David Bowie.
“The original idea was for everyone to cover Bowie’s ‘Five Years’, multiple versions of the same song.” says Nick Triani (Soliti founder and OQM chief-ed.) “But then some people wanted to do Luniz’ I Got Five On It (no really) and that muddied the waters. We ended-up with the concept of everyone covering each other’s songs. I think this perfectly reflects the close community amongst a lot of the bands on the label – which is really great – and an important factor that keeps the label alive. In the end, the tribute to Bowie was in the title”.

The premise of the album is simple, bands from the label’s roster cover each other’s songs. So here you’ll find Delay Trees covering Cats On Fire, Black Twig covering The New Tigers (and vice versa), Cats of Transnistria and Black Lizard doing the same. Astrid Swan covers Puunhalaaja and Love Sport cover Astrid Swan. It all comes wrapped in a winning collage from Onni Hyöty.
