Karstein Volle: Hi, how are you?

Adrian Kaxrud: Good, thanks.

Adrian Kaxrud

KV: Of all the more lucrative and less work intensive disciplines within the visual arts field, why comics?

AK: I feel they’re the shortest path between idea and result. You can make them on a bus. You’re free, man!

Adrian Kaxrud

KV: What is your dream project?

AK: One-man anthologies where you just go crazy with different styles and stories are fun. 24 or 32 pages. Yeah.

Adrian Kaxrud

KV: Tell me about an unfinished project of yours. No matter if it’s going to be finished, in progress or if it crashed and burned.

AK: Most of my duds have been with animation, since there’s a heavier workload there than with comics. I remember planning a lot of music videos that didn’t go anywhere.

I got some comics drafts I’ve scrapped because they turned out to be shitty comics. What’s cool is that I’ll remember the best parts of that shitty comic and get to use that in a better, stronger comic at some later point. It’s eugenics we all can enjoy and support.

KV: Where will all this end?

AK: Right?

Adrian lives in Oslo and does comics, animations, illustrations. He did a daily strip for 7½ months in 2016 and had some films played at festivals.
